Many people world wide can trace their ancestors and roots back to Scotland, example, Elvis Pressley, Lonmay, Aberdeenshire; Andrew Carnegie, born in Dunfermline 1835 and founder of Steel Works in the US; John Paul Jones born in Scotland 1747 and founder of the US Navy; Thomas McDougall Brisbane, born in Brisbane House, near Largs in 1773 became Governor of New South Wales, Australia and gave his name to Brisbane; Robert Dinwiddie born near Glasgow and became Lt General of Virginia and sometimes called the Grandfather of the United States; John Muir born 1834 in Dunbar set up US National Parks system; John Witherspoon born 1768 in Gifford, East Lothian became President of Princeton University, framed the US Delcaration of Independence and one of the signatories.
